As the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia crowned Chris van der Drift and Yuey Tan the 2015 overall and Class B champions during a star-studded Night of Champions awards evening in Shanghai, the series was already preparing to power into its 14th season stronger than ever. Kamlung Racing’s Chris van der Drift clinched the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia overall championship after the title chase went right down to the wire at the final race of the 14-round season. Team Jebsen’s Yuey Tan of Singapore lifted the Class B honours by a single point after a white-knuckle finale which almost saw the longed-for title slip through his fingers.

The 13th season of the region’s premier sportscar championship is heading for a season finale of truly epic proportions as the 28-strong Porsche Carrera Cup Asia field heads home to Shanghai for Rounds 13 and 14 from October 30 to 31. Menzel nominated for Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme

Shanghai. Seventeen-year-old Nico Menzel is the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia nomination to the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme 2016. The nomination means that Menzel, who has made a spectacular sportscar racing debut this season with PICC Team StarChase and is currently third on the overall championship leaderboard, will join the best young drivers from the Porsche Cups around the world in a shootout to be held in Germany on October 5 and 6.

Budweiser Team Absolute Racing’s Tung Ho-Pin took an emphatic win in Round 12 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia at Singapore’s Marina Bay street circuit, pulling out an impressive gap of 2.842 seconds at the flag from second-place finisher and Round 11 winner, Clearwater Racing’s Craig Baird. Third over the line after the 12-lap race was championship leader, Chris van der Drift of Kamlung Racing, who made his debut in the Lion City at the weekend.
