Championship wide open as 2015 title chase resumes in Malaysia

The race for the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia overall and Class B championship titles remains wide open as the region’s premier sportscar championship resumes at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit this weekend, with the 28-strong fleet of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991) racing cars set to dazzle under the tropical sun.

Unstoppable van der Drift makes it six in a row

Thailand. Kamlung Racing’s Chris van der Drift extended his lead in the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia title chase by taking his sixth consecutive win in Round 8 of the 14-race season. Taking the second podium of his debut Porsche racing season was PICC Team StarChase driver Nico Menzel, with a wheel-perfect performance from second on the grid and setting the fastest lap of the race in the process. Third across the line at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit was Budweiser Absolute Racing’s Tung Ho-Pin of China.

Kamlung Racing’s Chris van der Drift claimed his fifth consecutive Porsche Carrera Cup Asia win from pole to take victory in Round 7, as the series made its thunderous return to Thailand at the Chang International Circuit. Second across the line and taking his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup Asia podium finish was 17-year-old Nico Menzel of PICC Team StarChase, followed by Clearwater Racing’s Craig Baird.
