Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Concludes Tenth Season at the Top
Shanghai. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, the region’s premier one-make racing series, concluded a triumphant tenth season at a spectacular finale in Shanghai last weekend. The series scaled new heights this year with its most prestigious entry ever, the addition of series partner Budweiser, more teams and drivers joining the series, and a calendar of races which spanned the region. The 2012 season was hailed as the best yet.

New Champion Ends Season with Victory while Shen Takes Class B Title
Shanghai. PICC Team StarChase talent and newly crowned Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Alexandre Imperatori finished his season in spectacular style by taking a resounding victory in the final round. The Shanghai-based Swiss driver crossed the line after the 12-lap Round 11 with a margin of 6.5 seconds from second-place finisher Keita Sawa of LKM Racing Team. Third over the line in the action-packed and Safety Car-interrupted race was Chinese driver Zhang Da Sheng of Team Basetex, who drove a superb race to take his second podium of the season.

Ragginger Victorious in Shanghai Thriller
Shanghai. Austrian Martin Ragginger gave his Team Eagle – Jiejun & Junbaojie plenty to cheer about after he took victory in the penultimate round of the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season today. Notching up his second win of the season, Ragginger crossed the line 1.595 seconds ahead of pole-sitter Rodolfo Avila of Team Jebsen. Third across the line after the 12-lap thriller was Budweiser Team StarChase talent Tung Ho-Pin of China taking his third podium on his debut sportscar season.

Imperatori Clinches Championship for PICC Team StarChase
Shanghai. Alexandre Imperatori won the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship today at the aptly-named Sports Car Champions Festival. With six victories in nine races, the 25-year-old PICC Team StarChase ace clinched the title after rival and defending champion LKM Racing Team’s Keita Sawa failed to take pole position for the penultimate race of the season. Even if Sawa takes maximum points in Rounds 10 and 11, he can only hope to draw level in the points, and Imperatori would ace him by virtue of race wins.

Shanghai. The grand finale of the tenth Porsche Carrera Cup season will have added star power with the announcement that Le Mans 24 Hours winner David Brabham will be amongst the 28-car grid as the championship battle goes down to the wire at the inaugural Shanghai Sportscar Champions Festival.

Second across the line, taking full championship points for the win, was Martin Ragginger of Team Eagle – Jiejun & Junbaojie, while championship leader Alexandre Imperatori of PICC Team StarChase was third.

Ice Cool Imperatori takes Commanding Pole
Kuala Lumpur. PICC Team StarChase ace and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia points-leader Alexander Imperatori proved ice-cool in the searing heat of Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit today to take a commanding pole position for Round 7. The 24-year-old Shanghai-based Swiss driver clocked a time of 2:09.062 in his single flying lap of the session, more than six tenths of a second faster than closest challenger, Austrian Martin Ragginger of Team Eagle – Jiejun & Junbaojie.

Porsche extends its promotion of driving talent
Shanghai/Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is adding a new element to its support of the next generation of racing drivers. Along with long-term training and support of Porsche Junior drivers, beginning in 2013 one exceptionally talented driver will be selected from the Porsche one-make race series worldwide to participate in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, a support event to Formula 1. Porsche support will cover a majority of the season budget.
