Epic battle as charge to 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup title roars to life
Fuji, Japan. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia opened a new chapter in its impressive 12-season history today with its debut in the region’s most sophisticated motorsport nation. At the iconic Fuji International Speedway, an intense qualifying session to determine the starting order for this weekend’s Rounds 6 and 7 saw defending champion Earl Bamber of LKM Racing set the overall fastest time of 1:54.635, the only driver to lap in less than one minute 55 seconds, and also secure pole position for Round 7 with the second-best lap.

Zhuhai. Team Porsche Holding’s Martin Ragginger snatched victory from 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Alexandre Imperatori of PICC Team StarChase in the closing stages of a dramatic final lap to win Round 4 of the 2014 season.
Zhuhai. Team Jebsen’s Rodolfo Avila was the quickest man out on track today during qualifying for Rounds 4 and 5 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, the Macau driver taking pole position for both races of the weekend with a lap of 1:37.197 at the 4.3km Zhuhai International Circuit.
Shanghai. The region’s premier sportscar championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, thunders into the Southern Chinese city of Zhuhai this weekend for Rounds 4 and 5 of the 12-race season. The FIA-sanctioned international series will bring 28 of the brand new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991) racing cars to the 4.3km Zhuhai International Circuit for the first time and, along with the impressive fleet of thoroughbred GTs, its talented field of sportscar drivers.

PICC Team StarChase driver Alexandre Imperatori returned to the dominant form which saw him take the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship, as he swept to a convincing win in Round 3, held in support of the Chinese F1 Grand Prix in Shanghai. Starting from pole, Imperatori wasted no time in pulling out a gap from second-place finisher Martin Ragginger of Porsche Holding, crossing the line 3.666 seconds ahead of the Austrian at the end of the 12-lap race. LKM Racing’s Earl Bamber took a thunderous victory in Round 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia today, held as part of this weekend’s Chinese F1 Grand Prix, charging ahead of the battling field to cross the line more than six seconds ahead of Porsche Holding’s Martin Ragginger who drove a thunderous race from fifth on the grid after a puncture in qualifying.

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Earl Bamber of LKM Racing and PICC Team StarChase driver Alexandre Imperatori took pole position for Rounds 2 and 3 respectively at the 5.5km Shanghai International Circuit.
