Rounds 8&9 QualifyingStarting in wet conditions after torrential downpours at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit, the Qualifying session for the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Rounds 8&9 turned into a dramatic battle against the clock as the track began to dry and the session became a high-stakes tyre lottery.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia’s 2014 season got well and truly underway in the Round 1 qualifying session at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. Among the 28-strong field of drivers in their identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing cars, Earl Bamber’s scorching lap time of little over two minutes and eight seconds secured his pole start in the next day’s race, and put him in good standing to defend his 2013 championship.
Rounds 4&5 QualifyingThe 4th and 5th Round of the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia got started with a rousing qualifier at Zhuhai International Circuit. The fastest driver around the 4.3km track was Rodolfo Avila, who earned pole position for both of the weekend’s races. Lining up alongside Team Jebsen’s Avila would be Team Porsche Holding’s Martin Ragginger, followed by Alexandre Imperatori and Zhang Zhen Dong one row behind.
In front of thousands of spectators at the Shanghai International Circuit, today Earl Bamber and Alif Hamdan put pay to a season’s worth of hard work and skilled racing, coming away with the overall and Class B championship titles.
LKM Racing Team’s Earl Bamber, who has handily led the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia all season long, has today clinched the title of overall champion in the series’ Round 11 race at Shanghai International Circuit.

The single point Bamber collected for topping the times sheets also removed two of his three title rivals - Alexandre Imperatori of PICC Team StarChase and Budweiser Team Absolute Racing’s Tung Ho-Pin of China – from championship contention, setting the stage for a final showdo
The unmistakable sound of 28 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing cars reverberated through the Shanghai International Circuit today, as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia held it’s two practice sessions ahead of the Round 11&12 race weekend.
From October 17-19, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia returns to Shanghai, China for the final two races of the 2014 season.
